Meet Wuschel, the main character of a new, imaginative German learning resource for primary schools, developed to inspire early language learning through storytelling and play.

The exhibition features original illustrations by acclaimed illustrator Axel Scheffler, best known for The Gruffalo, and offers accessible insight into the visual development of a character created especially for young language learners. From early sketches to finished artwork, visitors can explore how Wuschel’s world was brought to life and how illustration supports storytelling and learning.

Presented in the library at the Goethe-Institut London, the exhibition is designed to be welcoming and engaging for children, families and festival visitors of all ages. It encourages curiosity, close looking and creative exploration, and provides a playful cultural experience within the context of the Great Exhibition Road Festival!
