Invisible disabilities can affect how people move through the world, even when those impacts aren’t immediately seen.

In this drop-in workshop, you’ll work with a zine artist to create your own small, illustrated story capturing your reflections and ideas.

The workshop is hosted at the Invisible Warrior stand, where you’ll learn all about blood, what happens in the blood disorder Sickle Cell, and how conditions like this influence daily life. After exploring invisible disabilities and the science behind Sickle Cell, you’ll be invited to turn what you’ve learnt into a creative response.

Using simple drawing techniques, collage and storytelling prompts, you’ll design a mini zine that expresses your own perspective on invisible disabilities, whether that’s something you’ve learnt, something you’ve felt, or something you want others to understand. At the end of the session, you can take your zine home or add it to the public display, helping others think differently about the hidden experiences people carry with them every day.

No previous drawing experience is needed.
