Art meets fluid motion in this hands-on workshop inspired by the Islamic tradition of Ebru marbling and the mathematics that shapes flowing liquids.

Led by Ebru printing artists and mathematician Dr Michele Coti Zelati, you’ll float vibrant pigments on water, learning about the mathematics behind these mesemerising swirls and ripples. Discover how a centuries old artistic practice links to the mathematical research that underpins weather forecasting and plane aerodynamics.

This workshop is a unique opportunity to explore maths at its most tangible, whilst trying your hand at an ancient tradition to make artwork for you to take home.
