Underground Adventure Zone

Prince's Gardens

Take inspiration from the striking beauty of magnified fungal spores as you transform these microscopic forms into bold, expressive textile prints.

Experiment with shape, pattern and colour, as you uncover how fungi inhabit underground environments, and how each spore’s form reveals clues about how it travels, attaches and survives below the surface. Attach your patch to a wristband and wear it at Earthbeat: The Underground Disco!

This workshop is led by artist Poppy Flint, whose practice celebrates what is hidden in our natural world through playful installations and hands‑on discovery. It was developed in collaboration with researchers from the Imperial College London's Fungal Network, whose work on underground fungal ecosystems inspires the spores, environments and stories woven throughout the activity.
