12.00–18.00

Event location details

World Science Zone

Business School, Imperial College London

Discover how medical robotics is revolutionising surgery by providing surgeons with the precision and control needed to perform complex procedures with minimally invasive technology.

Through a series of interactive demonstrations and challenges, join Imperial College London researchers to celebrate these medical innovations.

Explore robots at the microscale and see the precision required when they are used in surgical procedures. Using joysticks and manual controls, have a go at performing delicate tasks. Could you navigate a catheter through a blood vessel?

Interact with shape memory polymers that transform from deformed clutters into intricate shapes when dipped in warm water, and learn more about the science behind these materials and their potential to revolutionise non-invasive surgery. Then experience the power of light in medicine, as you find out how optical fibres enhance a surgeon’s visibility during surgical procedures.
