Nuclear radiation is the energy that comes from the nucleus of an atom. It is all around us and reaches us from space, rocks, plants and animals.

How radioactive do you think a banana is? At this exhibit, use a Geiger counter to discover how much radiation is produced by commonly found items.

Nuclear reactors are machines that create heat by splitting atoms into smaller parts—a process called nuclear fission. Explore the workings of a nuclear reactor, and play an arcade game where you can control nuclear fuel rods. Then speak to Imperial College London researchers to find out how nuclear energy is being used to sustainably power our society.
