Adults Only Zone

Beit Quadrangle, Imperial College London

For more than 175 years, scientists have been developing tools to understand how we walk—studying gait, balance and the health of our bones and muscles.

Join Imperial College London’s MSk Lab and Faculty of Medicine historian Dr Jennifer Wallis on a journey through the evolution of walking analysis, from early mechanical devices to cutting-edge digital systems, and see just how far the technology has come.

Then step into the experiment yourself: using the same motion sensor technology found in modern filmmaking and biomechanics research, you’ll receive a live assessment of your walking speed and gait pattern. Watch your movement come to life on screen and learn what it reveals about your bones, muscles and overall health.
