Who are you? You may think of yourself as an individual, but all of us contain cells from other humans, as well as a community of microbes drawn from the environment around us.
Worlds Within Us is an interactive art installation in three parts, considering our relationship with the different organisms that make us who we are. Manipulate shadows of microbes and their sources, as they blend with human forms across the walls; watch pipes carrying secret messages wriggle along the floor; or interact with giant, soft 3D sculptures of microbes taking on human attributes.
This new artwork by Alexa Wright, Andrew Carnie and Sian Harding reflects on ideas of symbiosis, interchange and coalescence, inviting you to consider how we are made up of many different living things—and what that means for who we are.
