Exhibition Road

See clouds in a new way with atmospheric scientists measuring their height, shape and impact on the climate.

We have all spent time staring up at clouds. Seeing shapes and patterns in their fluffy white on a summer’s day, or worrying about dark grey ones approaching from the horizon. At the Great Exhibition Road Festival, cloud scientist Edward Gryspeerdt and his team will be exploring the science behind these pillows in the sky. Using ground-based cameras on Exhibition Road and in Hyde Park, Ed’s team will be measuring the heights and shapes of the clouds as they pass above the festival in real time, whilst telling stories of their role in the Earth system and for climate change.
