Explore the new medicines, new mindsets and new technologies that could revolutionise how we support health and wellbeing during later life.

Ours is an ageing population. By 2043 it is expected that 24% of the UK population will be over the age of 65. Health services and social care provisions need reforming and even redesigning to ensure this growing sector of our society live well throughout later life. Yet achieving this requires refocusing on, and engaging a sector of society that has all too often been left to feel marginalised, lumped together in broad boxes or simply ignored.

Can the design community help our healthcare services meet this challenge by making the future of care tailored to their particular needs? Or even by challenging the basic assumptions that supporting old age is all about mitigating or delaying loss of function rather than maximising the quality of later life?

At the Great Exhibition Road Festival we will bring together a panel of designers working in the healthcare space to discuss new medicine, new mindsets and new technologies that could revolutionise how we support health and wellbeing in later life.
