Against the challenges of recent years, join scientist and author John Tregoning for a more hopeful story of fascinating successes in our age-old battle with infectious disease.

It’s a harsh truth that Covid-19 may be only the first of many modern pandemics. And yet Dr John Tregoning, reader in respiratory infections at Imperial College, remains hopeful. His new book Infectious: Pathogens and How We Fight Them uncovers fascinating success stories of ongoing human ingenuity in immunology and virology.

Join John at the Great Exhibition Road Festival to hear these messages of antiviral hope as you find out why pathogens cause disease and what tools we can give our bodies to do battle.

Dr Tregoning is a scientist and researcher whose work focuses on how viruses and bacteria infect the lungs and how our immune system fights them. He is currently reader in respiratory infections in the department of infectious disease at Imperial College London, where he runs a research group on vaccine immunology.
