Pandemics and other health crises have dominated headlines in recent years. But modern medicine is fighting back. In our Medical Marvels zone, live demonstrations and artistic depictions of future treatments will showcase the models and new technologies available to tomorrow’s doctors.
Play infectious disease card games with our infection investigators modelling COVID-19, mpox and Ebola, and learn how to prepare for the next pandemic. Uncover the invisible threats to our health from air pollution, noise pollution and microplastics with new monitoring technologies, before sharing ideas for reducing our exposure to them.
We will also require your input within our obstacle course playground, where little ones can contribute to Imperial research into the mobility of amputee children and new prosthetic devices. Better healthcare is not just a matter of new treatments. Designers working to make healthcare more responsive to the needs of patients, carers and clinicians are also essential, and over the Festival weekend you can try out innovations from Imperial’s Helix Design Centre, including creating art with a stroke rehab watch.
