At the Museum of Food, inspired by the V&A’s exhibition Food: Bigger than the Plate, you can experience how artists, designers and scientists are re-imagining the way we think about food and how we eat it. To mark this celebration, we are offering special discounted £10 tickets to the Food exhibition throughout the Great Exhibition Road Festival weekend.
The V&A have invited artist Laura Wilson to present her project Trained on Veda. Artist Gala Bell will be using food waste dough to create bread sculptures inspired by environmental change. On Saturday catch Beccy McCray’s Be N-Ice ice lolly bike and on Sunday join This is Rubbish for the Giant Salad Toss!
All weekend Imperial College will present Mycoprotein Story and Sustainable Future, by Miao Guo and Anteaters! Insect protein as the Food for the Future by Alex Lipp.
Visit the Royal College of Art stand on Saturday to find out about Cristina Carbajo's future food projects including Yokomo, a sweet iron-rich cricket snack tackling women's iron deficiency and on Sunday to taste Jelly Drops, hydrating treats that enable people with dementia to hydrate more often, designed by Lewis Hornby.
The Design Museum will be heading into outer space with Martian Meals workshops led by multi-disciplinary artists Inês Neto dos Santos and Nora Silva, ahead of their Moving to Mars exhibition opening this October.
French illustrator Guillaume Long brings his drawing and culinary skills with the Institut français, running food and recipes drawing workshops. Bring along your recipes for Guillaume at 11.00 and 15.30 on Saturday, and 13.00 on Sunday!
