Event location details
Parklets, sometimes known as pocket parks, are miniature green spaces that cover a single car-parking space. In central London alone, the equivalent space of 8,000 football pitches is used to park our cars. As well as taking up so much of the street, these cars remain unused 90% of the time!
Re-claiming and re-allocating some of this space from cars to other uses can offer places for us all to sit, relax and even grow food. In addition, it encourages greater biodiversity and a more aesthetically pleasing streetscape.
Head to ParkUp, Imperial College London's custom-configured parklet for th Festival weekend, which consists of air pollution-busting plants, an urban garden, places to sit and lots of activities and information on how you can get involved with making your street a healthier, more sustainable and relaxing place to be. See you there!
