Algorithmic composer Robert Thomas joins 6 Music DJ Nemone to talk about the future of music. In a world where AI, VR, AR, the web and the use of biometric data open up a whole world of possibilities, what lies ahead for music?
Robert Thomas is a composer who makes music which adapts in real-time to the listeners’ situation – like a soundtrack to your life. He has been commissioned by Google, BBC, Sky, National Geographic, Boiler Room and many more. He has collaborated with Massive Attack, Imogen Heap, Hans Zimmer and Air, to name a handful. He uses a range of techniques and approaches from conventional composition to machine learning or artificial intelligence, composing and programming bespoke experiences for each project.
