With the popularity of Attenborough's Blue Planet, the world is more aware than ever of plastic build up in our seas. But why are we waiting for plastic to reach the ocean before taking action? 80% of ocean plastic leakage comes from land-based activity. This chokes up our waterways and affects many species before this plastic even reaches the sea. Should we not be cutting this problem off at the source where solutions might be cheaper, easier to implement and deliver a greater reduction to our impact on the natural world?

This discussion will look at solutions to the global plastic problem. From economic and technological approaches to rays of hope in the form new innovations, the panel will discuss what can be done to reduce plastic pollution.
