Why we eat what we eat
Event schedule details
Sunday 30 June
Event location details
Food that is good for the planet, body and soul. That sounds like a recipe to feed a healthy future society. However, against the backdrop of public obesity crises fed by a meat heavy, carbon intensive food industry, is it time to ask what can we do to change what we eat?
Food consciousness appears to be rising, but is it happening fast enough and across the population as a whole? Does the society we live in encourage mindful meal decisions or bad eating habits? This discussion brings together a vegan academic, a dietary environmentalist and an obesity expert to discuss what motivates and determines success in the adoption of a more responsible diet. Whether it’s meat alternatives or simply a better balance, together they will look at the role of lifestyle, identity and culture in determining our changing tastes.
This is part of our ‘Ideas Exchange’ talks series. Take a look at the other talks in this series.
