A group of penguins walking across the snow

Event schedule details

Saturday 6 June and Sunday 7 June

12.00–18.00

Event location details

Family Fun Zone

Kensington Gardens, East Albert Lawn

Take a trip to Antarctica and discover what it’s like to conduct research on the coldest, driest and most remote continent on Earth!

Dress up as a polar researcher and crawl inside a polar tent, just like those used by real scientists. You can explore maps, videos and photos from a field camp in Antarctica to see what this frozen continent really looks like.

Uncover how much ice Antarctica has lost with researchers from Imperial College London, view a light-up display of ice core temperatures and try a penguin craft activity as you ponder whether there are really more penguins in Antarctica than humans in the UK.
