Explore new flavours and ingredients, while nourishing your mind and body through a variety of cookery demonstrations at the Festival’s demo kitchen.
Head over to Future Food Live to witness exciting culinary creations and techniques, as chefs whip up dishes that you can sample on the spot!
Learn how to make meals not only for a healthy body and wallet, but also for a healthy planet. What does the future of our food look like? Challenge yourself to try one of our climate-friendly plates! You can also find out what people would feast on in Victorian times and learn how to bake brownies inspired by the surface of Mars.
Saturday and Sunday:
12.00–12.45 Climate-Friendly Caribbean Kitchen - Taste a delicious Caribbean-inspired dish while researchers from Imperial College London's Grantham Institute share how climate-friendly ingredients and food choices can support both a healthy planet and healthy communities.
13.15–14.00 What did they eat in 1851? - Discover the flavours of Victorian Britain through live cooking, expert insights and a rare chance to taste history as a Royal Albert Hall archivist and a professional chef cook up historical treats for you to try.
14.30–15.15 Tasting the Inside of Mars - Explore space science, but make it tasty! Learn all about the surface of Mars through the art of baking brownies.
15.45–16.30 Growing Tomorrow’s Meat - Unpack the science, sustainability and potential of lab-grown meat and what it could mean for future meals.
17.00–17.45 Beetle Bites and Culinary Crickets - Try some new flavours and intriguing insect ingredients to find out how these can be a healthy and green source of nutrition and protein hidden in the tastiest meals.
Visitor information
This is a drop-in event suitable for all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
The event is in a gazebo with step-free access on Imperial College Road.
