Check out a new solar-powered aircraft being developed for a record-breaking flight attempt! 

Find out how aerodynamics, solar-electric propulsion, lightweight structures and autonomous control can come together to break a world record, and prove the power of renewable energy for sustainable flights.

Meet students from Imperial College London's Department of Aeronautics who are developing a solar-powered, unmanned aircraft and attempting a record-breaking flight!

See their latest prototype and have a go at controlling the aircraft's surfaces. Discover how aerofoils generate lift and how the structure of aircraft wings can provide strength and stability in flight.

Visitor information

This is a drop-in event that is best suited for children age 5+. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

The Family Fun Zone, which is located in a garden with grass and paths, has step-free access and accessible portable toilets.
