Black History Month - A day in the life of the Grenfell gardener

ExRdFestival · Black History Month - A Day In The Life Of The Grenfell Gardener

In the wake of the Grenfell Tower fire, local resident Tayshan Hayden-Smith created the Grenfell Garden of Peace. Reclaiming a piece of land and taking advantages of the plants local garden centres throw out, the newcomer to horticulture found a therapeutic grassroot platform for community action in his new hobby.

Since London mayor Sadiq Khan helped open the Garden to the public in the Summer of 2018, Tayshan set up Grow2Know, a non-profit empowering more young people through horticulture, and has been invited to exhibit at the Chelsea flower show

Join Tayshan to find out more about his experience of the power of gardening to heal, inspire, empower and educate.
