Enjoy sustainable food samples, recipe cards and an interactive quiz on climate-friendly grocery shopping - with prizes!

The food we eat – and waste – is the second biggest contributor to global Greenhouse Gas Emissions after the energy industry. Pop over to the Climate-Friendly Pop-Up Kitchen to sample delicious planet-friendly food samples, prepared by professional caterers. Try some tasty plant-based food samples and take part in an interactive quiz to learn more about which foods have lower climate-footprints than others.

Meanwhile, experts from the Grantham Institute and the Centre for Environmental Policy and the School of Public Health will be available to answer questions on topics like how to eat well for you and the planet, how to interest kids in plant-based meals, how to reduce food waste at home with culinary tips for leftovers, and even crickets as a source of dietary protein!

Recipe cards and leaflets explaining the impacts of the certain foods on our climate and top tips for eating sustainably will be given out on recycled paper and as QR codes.

Around 26% of global greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) come from the agriculture sector. More than half of these emissions come from animal-based products and a third of all food is thrown away. But reducing your meat and dairy intake, and reducing the food you waste, can make a huge difference to your climate-impact.

Give aways will also include cricket snacks and edible and biodegradable Ooho seaweed bubbles containing cordial made by Imperial College London start-up and 2022 Earthshot prize winner Notpla.
